Estimate your electricity bill amount before it arrives. This calculator helps you understand how units consumed, peak hours, and tariff rates affect your final bill amount for IESCO, LESCO, MEPCO, K-Electric, and other providers.
How Electricity Bills Are Calculated
Your electricity bill includes:
- Units consumed: Based on meter reading difference
- Energy charges: Units × rate per unit
- Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA): Variable charge based on fuel costs
- Taxes: GST and other government taxes
- Fixed charges: Monthly connection charges
Peak vs Off-Peak Rates
If you have a Time of Use (TOU) meter:
- Peak hours (5 PM - 11 PM): Higher rates apply
- Off-peak hours (11 PM - 5 PM): Lower rates apply
Using appliances during off-peak hours can significantly reduce your bill. Read our guide on reducing electricity bills for more tips.
Estimating Your Bill
To estimate your bill:
- Note your current meter reading
- Subtract last month's reading
- Multiply units by approximate rate (varies by provider and consumption slab)
- Add FPA, taxes, and fixed charges
